ManageBac has updated the parent access view! While we understand that updates are confusing, we are pleased with this update for one very important reason: the layout of the parent view is now the same for parents of PYP, MYP, and DP students. We also find this layout more intuitive, because you can navigate the site by selecting what you would like to view in the black menu bar along the left of the page. Please remember that we use ManageBac for assignments, grading, and messages for students in Secondary. We do not use these for students in Elementary in order to better meet the developmental needs of our Elementary and Secondary students. We experienced outstanding participation in the Hour of Code and have high hopes that some of our learners will continue learning to program... for fun! Here is a list of resources for learning to code . Tuesday 9 December: Hour of Code on the Elementary Campus We had parents, students, and teachers involved in the hour of code at the Media Center. It was inspiring to see our learners struggle and succeed as they worked through tutorials. A few of our ISPP ESTA (Elementary Student Technology Advisory) students were able to volunteer as supporters to help people when they got stuck. Afterwards they were absolutely glowing from the experience, and they said it was challenging to help people, and they loved it! Thank you to all who joined us! Open a Google Doc, Go to 'Add-ons' and Get add-ons: Search Tag Cloud Generator, Add it: Got to Add-ons and Tag Cloud Generator -->Create Tag Cloud: You get a tag cloud to the right like this: What did I learn from that? I used too many words like December and week, and not enough words like inspire, create, challenge, collaborate! What can you learn from tag-clouding your docs? Here are some ideas to get you started with your Hour of Code!  Don't have an event you can go to? That's okay! You can go to code.org/learn and select a tutorial that looks interesting. Think of the tutorials like books in a library: look at the cover, if it looks good to you, click on it, if it's not what you were looking for, try something else! There's something for everyone. Make sure you have headphones or speakers so you can listen to the videos!   Use programming blocks so you can drag and drop blocks instead of typing code.   Type code and see the results immediately! Learn to color and draw in a brand new way :) Here's the Khan Academy tutorial. Tired of using computers?
